Pirate Kids Matter was created November 16, 2011 in the hallway of West Carrollton High School. We are a group of concerned parents, grandparents, and residents from West Carrollton, Moraine, and Miami Township motivated to work with leaders in our community, school board officials and teachers to try and make our schools the best they can be for our kids and our district.
We meet once a month to discuss ideas and educate our parents on the decisions and policies of our district. We welcome all parents of a West Carrollton student and anyone currently on staff with the district to attend. All board members are welcome as well.
So far three of the goals we have established are to work toward reversing all proposed cuts by the school board, educating the community about our school district, and compiling a list of recommendations to share with the board and the community in place of the proposed cuts which are to take affect in August.
We also have a group page on face book. Many members can discuss topics of interest related to the schools and we welcome all feedback. We do ask that if you use the facebook page, please refrain from using profanity or insulting someone or your access will be restricted. Thank you to all those involved as I know it will make a difference in the lives of our kids.
